Do I need both an essence and a moisturizing product?

Although some prefer to solely use a hydrating facial essence (for example those living in very humid climates), most would recommend pairing it with a moisturizer or serum. As a facial essence, the BIOEFFECT EGF Essence could also serve as the sole hydrating agent for skin, especially for those wanting a light product that absorbs in an instant.

An essence has a lighter consistency than a serum (and obviously, much lighter than a facial cream). Sometimes this means essences are not as potent, although many are rich in active ingredients. Facial essences are usually thought of as an extra layer of hydration. They absorb quickly and sink in deep within the skin due to the light and watery consistency, clearing the way for serums and moisturizers to follow and aiding in their absorption. Cleanse your skin twice a day.

Step 1 – Cleanse

This one is a must. Cleansing the skin at the start of your routine removes impurities from the skin´s surface and clears the pores to prevent skin concerns, allowing maximum absorption of your chosen skincare products. Use warm water, or a high-quality cleansing product like our no-rinse, Micellar Cleansing Water, formulated with pure Icelandic water and plant-based humectants.

Prep your skin for subsequent products.

A facial essence is a must to perfectly prep your skin for subsequent products in order to maximise the effectiveness of your routine! Use after cleansing, before serums or moisturizers.
