Dr. Björn Örvar is the co-founder of BIOEFFECT and Chief Scientific Officer of ORF Genetics. He received his Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of British Columbia and was a post-doctoral fellow at McGill University before returning to Iceland to launch ORF.

This is something I got from my father, who was an entrepreneur and always thinking outside the box. He had such an innovative mind and it really inspired me. So, I wanted to do great science, but with practical applications.
Sigrún Dögg is the Chief of Research and Development of BIOEFFECT. She oversees product- and skin trials along with developing and shaping our product line. Sigrún received her B.Sc. from the University of Iceland and completed an M.D. from the University of Copenhagen. In previous years, she has worked in the field of dermatology and as a medical specialist within clinical drug development.

Dr. Jón Már Björnsson is the Chief of Research and Development at ORF Genetics. He received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Lund in Sweden and was the Head of In Vivo Biology at deCODE Genetics (Iceland) before joining ORF Genetics in 2009.

Dr. Jón MárI have always been interested in testing things and seeing where that leads me - I have always been fascinated by the possibilities of biotechnology and its important role in so many aspects of our daily life, both now and in the future.
Berit has an M.Sc. in Biochemistry and works as a Biochemist in our Formulation and Analytics team, mainly focusing on product development. She previously worked on Mass Spectrometric Analysis at DeCode Genetics, before joining ORF Genetics and BIOEFFECT in 2008.

Berit Noesgaard NielsenEvery day is different here at the lab as each day brings new challenges – and new chances. We strive to find the perfect combination of different ingredients in order to create the perfect product, that works as desired.
Guðrún Valdís received her B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Iceland. She has worked on Protein Development, Formulations, and currently as a Formulation Research Associate here at BIOEFFECT. Her main task is researching and testing ingredients and ideal packaging as well as developing and formulating new products.

Guðrún Valdís HalldórsdóttirI have always had a passion for science and research. That is exactly what the job requires. Formulating and pairing the right ingredients, developing a new active product, is as exciting as it is challenging.
Brynja is a Formulation Specialist at BIOEFFECT. Her main task is developing, testing, formulating, and improving new and existing skincare products for the product range. Brynja received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Food Science from the University of Iceland. Prior to joining BIOEFFECT, she worked on biochemical substance research and development, and ways to incorporate that into possible advancements in the field of skincare.

Brynja EinarsdóttirI have always been interested in science. During my studies of food sciences, I got to know biotechnology and the skincare industry, which sparked a new interest in that field. I have also always found the purity of ingredients to be extremely important – an ideology perfectly in tune with what BIOEFFECT stands for.
